Okay, as much as we joke about 1 HP Sans, I honestly don’t think he really has just 1 HP.
Now, we all know that Sans is the only monster who doesn’t turn into dust once you defeat him; rather, he walks off screen. However, if you actually check your kill count stats before and after defeating Sans, Sans is not counted as a kill. Yes, defeating him adds to your EXP, LV, and HP. But your Kill Count stays at 105! Here is proof from a playthrough a friend of mine did.
But you DO make a hit on him!
So if this doesn’t actually kill him, what’s up with that? WHO ARE YOU SANS
EVERYBODY HOLD THE PHONE I JUST REALIZED HOW SANS COULD SIMULTANEOUSLY HAVE A MAX HP OF ONE AND SURVIVE THIS ATTACK
WHAT DOES SANS DO ALL DAY???? SLEEP. HE SLEEPS.
APPARENTLY I STAND CORRECTED IT IS STILL POSSIBLE FOR SANS TO CANONICALLY HAVE A MAXIMUM HP OF ONE I’M???????????
#this motherfucker has 10000000/1 hp thats ten fucking million why are you a god sans because naptime
OML I NEVER EVEN REALIZED
Hey tumblr you like crazy theories right?
What if Sans did survive your one attack but you don’t get a kill count because you don’t make the final blow. He does after he walks off and realizing he failed Papyrus drove him to just end it. What if Sans killed himself? I mean the fade to dust sound effect clearly plays after his Grilby’s line.
I like to think that despite being lovey dovey with Alphys, this is Undynes first ever lesbian relationship. I only think that because this means it would create tons of cute “What? Girls do this? WOW THIS IS AMAZING” moments.
That's entirely intentional. The point is to kill her, reload, try again and then get taunted by Flowey. Most players will try this the first time.

Yep, exactly.
I only knew to go past her this way only because I played the demo previously, in which I did do and got the “You felt bad and so you went back, didn’t you?”
I have to admit that this is true for me too. I mentioned that it was obvious but I probably would have missed it.
The only reason I knew you could spare her is because I played the demo years back.
Unless you see that Toriel is holding back, that doesn’t become obvious. Which suggests that people who are actually good at dodging would never see her restrain herself and would just keep attacking like normal.
And I remember that after trying to spare her several times the ellipsis response comes up a few times. So I just assumed that like the talk option, there was no way it would progress.
