This is exactly how I felt before I stopped watching after the 4th episode.
Is it truly that awful?
Not really, it’s just not as good as the first Avatar.
It’s like comparing the new Star Wars to the original three. Sure they’re good movies, but the originals were great so all the fanboys act like the new ones are a great evil that must be destroyed.
I didn’t even watch A:TLA until mid Korra Season 2, to be honest. I was already pretty upset at the writing after finishing Korra S1. Just throwing that in.
Oh my. Is it that bad already? I never really cared about Korra until season 2 where I saw the first 2 episodes and just dropped it. I didn’t necessarily hate it, its just bored me.
