/vp/ says im wrong about bulbasaur since he’s poison AND grass so the poison gym would be pretty neutral. They also mention that catching Mankey would beat the first gym leader but I don’t remember ever finding a mankey in the original Blue.

I think in the original Red and Blue this might have been true but on Fire Red and Leaf Green, the pokemon have changed so its not true
