The original movie was on cable a few days ago and I genuinely forgot this scene. That being said. This isn’t an homage to Gene Wilder this is an insult. His straight face while in the midst of all the insanity is what makes it. Sure he sounds crazy but it’s not how crazed he is that makes this such a strange scene. It’s how he slowly moves from calm to frenzied and then instantly snaps back. And it’s not really about the rising fear anymore. When Willy starts singing it stops being about fear and much much more about confusion. Like god damn I knew this movie would be stupid but holy fuck how did you miss the point?
