Mei’s “Chang’e” skin (pronounced “chan-gah”) is a reference to the Chinese myth of Chang’e, the Moon Princess. It’s about a woman, Chang’e, who lives on the moon and wishes to be with her husband, Hou Yi, again. Mei’s new line “Those astronauts never found me!” references this (x)(x)

Also again. The men in The Thing were NOT ASTRONAUTS
