I can’t stop watching Bob’s Burgers. It’s characters are just so perfect that its one of the more adult shows that doesn’t need to rely on pop culture to be relevant.
I particularly love this scene because the creators know when it’s best to have characters develop and when not to. Tina in this season has become more confident and mean as she progresses but she still sticks to her values and listens to her family. They’re all a pack of weirdos but at the end of the day they’re always there for each other. She’s really grown from season 1 where being the nervous awkward older sister was all there was to her.
On the other hand Tammy hasn’t progressed. She’s still a spoiled brat who’s always looking out for herself and what she wants. Every time you think she’s going to change, her selfishness shines through. Her defiance to become a better person warrants why people pick on her instead of it just being an off joke like Meg from Family Guy. It really works.
It’s hard for me to recommend this show unless you mention how excellent it does it’s characters. It’s the same thing for Bob. His role really is to be the middle ground/ sane member of his family but when he really cracks down you can see he needs his family just as much as they need him and that he’s perfect for them. There isn’t a single character in this show I hate (Except Mr. Mr. Fischoeder Brother) and to have that kind of quality for 7 seasons with barely any quirks or fan pandering? That’s amazing.
