Continued from yesterday, time to bring this bit to a close. Taking the same pity on this creature I took many, many years ago, I gave her the updated and more accurate model, seen on the right. Anime is cheap, so to keep a level playing field, I used the same amount of frames, instead of 200 (which is good because then it’d never get completed :P). I added some bounce, just to give her a bit more life.
Now, let’s reinsert into a portion of the scene…
Here, Nidorina turns with the same timing as the original.
I may turn all this into an article so it’s somewhere accessible, and with a longer panning gif since I can exceed 2MB. Long and short of it, Nidorina is still an afterthought in the show, sometimes it’s beneficial to headcanons, like variable sizes, but other times it’s a hot mess. I know this is falling on deaf ears, especially with a Japanese company that’ll never read or understand this and moreso with one that is pretty rigid with character models, but if you’re going to go off model anyway, just own it!
When peppered here and there, it’s a lot more fun and lively. I’d watch an episode with expressive Nidorina 1,000 times over. Heck, it’d probably boost her approval rating in Japan, even if for a hot minute.
With that, I’ve met my Sugi-Rina quota for the rest of the year.
