What's so bad about the new Resident Evil trailer, Morbi? Fans have been complaining since 5 they wanted a return to form and less action and shooting mechanics. And now they have it.

morbi:

Assuming the teaser demo isn’t just some weird self-contained thing like PT was supposedly going to be, I wouldn’t really call it a return to form for Resident Evil.

It’s a totally different kind of horror, more in line with Outlast and other “helpless protagonist” horror games. It’s fair to say that there was probably too much of the big dumb action flick sequences in the later RE games, but what we’ve seen so far is going too far in the other direction.

I don’t get it. How can people hate rehashes and tired bored remakes/sequels of the same games but at the same time be upset when someone tries to take a risk and try something new. Like that’s my biggest beef with E3. Everyone doing boring sequels. But at least God of War and Resident Evil are making sequels while trying something different. You can’t say you hate repetitiveness and change. Does anyone remember how shitty Resident Evil 6 was? Are you honestly saying “Its not like 4,5, and 6. It’s a different kind of horror so its dumb.”? It’s a survival horror game. Not everyone is going to be Leon or Jill. Trained people stuck in scary situations.

Jesus Christ people make up your minds.

Man fair enough but no one was complaining when Fallout 3 changed to a Morrowind type shooter when its previous games...

Now see, when I heard “Return to Form” I thought that meant “Go back to cheesy B-Movie aesthetics.”Honestly that...
  6. projectendo said: I guess just. Big step back, I’m open to new games and regardless of whether or not God Of War is derivative, it still hooked me pretty well uvu/ it looked pretty breathtaking. Of course looking good doesn’t a good game make, but ! who knows yanno? I’m keepin’ a positive outlook on the new God Of War I think
  7. projectendo said: I’ll be honest, the new God of War really interested me? Of course the old ones were super fun and it might be a big contrast from the previous format but I feel like. Maybe it doesn’t matter? I can’t say my first response would be to slam it for being similar to Last Of Us because even that would maybe be derivative of Drake’s Fortune, or even who knows how many other games?

The problem is that the new God of War and Resident Evil games aren’t doing something new. They’re dropping elements...
