I always absolutely hated this in cartoons. This constant theme that the heroes in “kids shows”are always around the same age as the target demographic. It’s this whole “the young ones are the future” idea but I have always preferred old protagonist. I’m not complete against the idea that younger protagonists can be heroes and even villains but it does kind of annoy me when it seems people slap an age on a character to appeal to their demographic when their character design speaks otherwise.

Snow White is 14? Robin looks like an older teenager and so does Azula and Sailor Moon. Steven and Finn are probably the only passable 14 years olds here. Madoka looks like a kid I guess?  Everyone else seems two years older. I swear at one point I read somewhere that Jessie from Pokemon was supposed to be 15 and even as a kid I called bullshit on that. 

I’m not saying stop making young heroes. Hell Izuku from Hero Academia is a 14 year old but his face is round and he’s tiny but obviously growing. I guessed he was 15 and I was dead on. (He was 14 before the time skip). It’s just I prefer when character look the part.
