We just had season five, which was fucking spectacular in every possible way, and the show staff proved to then fans that they still had a solid idea on what direction they want to take the show in, both in tone and narrative, and gave us an exciting and triumphant season finale that blew us all away.

And season 6 starts with a Playskool advertisement with giant wings?

Like…when I saw this, it looked like what I imagined MLP would be when I first heard about it back in October 2010. That sort of cheesy over-the-top cutesy horseshit was what made me skeptical about MLP in the first place. MLP has gone for so long avoiding it, and now you’re going to thrust it right back in?
