That last comment you got about #Gamergate is how the anti-GG side perceives #Gamergate. It's far from true and the best thing you can do is read up about it yourself, but I imagine you are not that interested. For what it is worth, going to twitter and reading both #Gamergate and #NotYourShield is helpful. Let me at least dispel the hogwash of "#Gamergate is about harassment". This is factually not true and has become a shield of the opposition to deflect any criticism. Pro-tip: be sceptical.
