Weinstein: ‘I only have one really big note on the script. About page 60 the two leads, both straight men, have a sex scene. What the hell is that? I don’t get it.’
Damon-Affleck: ‘That’s the scene we wrote to see if guys like you read the script because every studio executive we went to hadn’t read it. You’re the only guy who brought it up, so you get the movie.’

Armageddon is one of the few DVDs I didn’t sell because Ben Affleck on the commentary track is relentless. Below is the clip of the commentary from where this tidbit of trivia came from. Please take a moment to witness the magic.
I like hearing about Ben Affleck behind the scenes because he seems to be a decent actor but a better director. My favorite story of him is when he ad libbed on Chasing Amy and Kevin Smith, his director, was upset with him adding to the script. Kevin told him that if he wanted to add his own lines he could do it in his own movie. Every time Kevin tells this story he immediately follows it with “Ben went on to win academy awards for his directing.” Which I always find hilarious.
