Hey. LIVING COSTS MONEY! How about giving more money to the companies that employ me and MAYBE I MIGHT BE OK

This is such a funny thing to me because in Thai culture, it’s completely normal to live with your parents when you’re an adult. In fact, most people live in their family home until they’re married ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Saaaame in Pakistan dude and being abroad for grad school is really fucking me up I am not built to be even slightly independent 😂

In Western culture (including America!) it was completely normal for people to live with their parents in adulthood–sometimes until they married, sometimes longer.  In America, that changed (for men) in the 1940s and 50s, when it was really really easy for an 18 year old to get a good job that paid more than enough to live a comfortable life on, or to afford college which would then practically guarantee you an even better-paying job.  Women joined the trend of moving out at 18 in the 1960s and 70s.

And now those jobs don’t exist, or are few and far between, and guess what!  People are living with their parents again.  But that 70-year span was just long enough that it fell out of common memory, and now people are seen as “failures” because the economics have changed.

A very great deal of Western culture, ESPECIALLY America, is actually still based on a memory of the 40′s and 50′s as the baseline of normalcy despite them being a total fluke at the time.

World War II and McCarthyism created a massive shift towards rabid patriotism, Christian fundamentalism and the ideal of the “nuclear family” that resembled nothing before it and we’re still recovering from as the majority of our most powerful politicians are old enough that this period of sudden fanaticism is their “nostalgic good old days” and the way they think things are “supposed to be.”

I love when these posts randomly become tiny history lessons, it soothes me

I apologize but I’m doing it again

ponyvilletextgame:

I decided to start fresh with my current assets (Again). This will be the fourth time I started this game over but bear with me. I have an explanation this time.

Something about the project had me typing into a brick wall and the game was extremely clunky. So with a fresh start I have a more focussed and organized idea. Not to mention the program updated with new features again and its honestly best to keep up.

I decided that the game would no longer be about you visiting Ponyville for the first time but rather the changes to Ponyville over the years. Even if we get a new season I want this to be a game taking place from seasons 1 - 8 really focusing on seasons 7 and 8.Before you get excited, you’re skipping the majority of that.

So what do I mean? I want to adapt a premise that many games haven’t really tried. It’s not that much different from the original story but the way characters interact with you is mostly changed because of this.

The new story is relatively the same with some changed details. As I said, its no longer about you visiting Ponyville for the first time. It’s about you moving away. Your family is leaving town to go far far away where you’ll continue your schooling and career. This is before any of the Mane Six even meet. You have Pinkie Pie giving you a farewell party, you can see some of the others around town and Twilight Sparkle hasn’t even appeared in town yet. You take the train and leave and time skips ahead several years later. The same plot happens where you somehow lose your cutie mark, have to adventure through dangerous lands to return to Ponyville where you’re directed to get help from the Mane Six. And so your quest is about solving the mystery (or not) while hanging around with the characters in the show. Making friends, finding love, learning about the towns changes and even delving into it’s past to uncover all the secrets.

With this change the game becomes more about celebrating the shows long run time and various characters instead of being set in the past. It allows you to explore various routes and do several different things.

Now this may sound extremely ambitious for someone like me which is why I’m going to at least try to update every Saturday. The day an MLPFIM episode is supposed to air. Even if the update is small I want to keep you all posted. I’m considering also uploading unfinished versions so you can all see what’s happening and how its coming along instead of just waiting with bated breath.

So apologies but I believe this change will be for the better and to be honest I didn’t even get past the welcoming party in the other game anyway.

Now I was going to upload my progress ANYWAY so you can see how far I didn’t get but the file is on my old harddrive. So if people really want to see it I’ll get it up.

I know you guys don’t follow me for my weird dreams but I keep having these snippets that are so theatrical and amusing that I enjoy sharing them.

So this time it was a bit jumbled up but the story was basically about me trying to manage my brother in this youtubers contest. Turns out he was too old to compete for this schollarship/funding so I direct my attention towards this young up and coming rapper/pop star. The kid was basically a “Soulja Boy” like character but he did more than just rap. I make his acquaintance and end up becoming his manager.

We’re out shopping for for supplies for his first perfomance when I stumble upon Nick Offerman (and I know it was him. You don’t exactly forget the face of Rob Swanson from Parks and Rec). My cousin was out looking for watches and I happened to be right by the sketch books so I asked Nick which sketchbook he’d think was the best just to get his opinion. Nick promptly asked me to hold on for one second saying “My phone just gave me a reminder with the kitty song so I know it’s an important one. One second.” After checking his phone Nick goes into Full passionate detail about which sketch book he’d prefer. While he’s ranting my mom and cousin come by astounded that I’m just chatting it up with him. She asks if she can take a picture, he doesn’t mind.

Anyway after this encounter we check out. I don’t think I was officially this kids manager yet but I was shadowing him close. It wasn’t until we prepped for his first performance that we really got close as it turns out he was pulling a crazy stunt that would most likely get him killed. I ended up saving him and getting into a fight with him behind stage while he was bloodied. The fight resulted into two weak men slapping each other with flimsy sticks unti we exhausted each other. I told him I only risked my ass to save him because he was extremely talented and it would be a shame for the world to lose him. We hug it out and he hires me as his manager.

Now this next part was the freshest in my head because it happened just before I woke up. For some reason I was really defensive about him. We got invited to an outing of youtubers with his friends. I was going to leave but one of his friends suggested I go because “That girl was totally hitting on you.” This short nerdy looking girl who was head of operations. She leads us to the cafe where all these youtube stars are chatting. She directs us to the back of the cafe with this child suggesting its where we belonged as these two had certain intelligence comproble to my guy. I was absolutely offended so I took a cup of soda and poured it on her head. She was too shocked to say anything. Meanwhile my guy took her at face value and started asking the kid really hard math questions to which she could answer instantly. She wasn’t insulting us, this kid was actually a genius. I felt so embarassed I poured my drink on my head and covered my face. I apologized and the head understood. The conversation devolved into talking about the next event and then I woke up.
