My mothers day present came late. We just got back from Star Trek.
When my mother was a kid, she was a huge nerd. Hell, all of my uncles and aunts were nerds in some way. Her and the youngest uncle happened to be Trekkians. She pushed the show on me and my brother and is ecstatic that we can appreciate it. So being able to take her to see new adventures of Captain Kirk must be a blast to the past. I realized today that we are really not that different.
Back in her hayday she was into Star Trek, Kimba and Xmen. Her creativity levels were high and she wanted to be a writer for movies. She even moved to California. But sometimes I feel that her being distracted with love and then me and my brother is the hugest burden. She had to move back home and ended up being a public school librarian which I know she hates.
If anything, I kind of want to live the life she didn’t get to live. Bringing her in after that would be the real mothers day present.
Also no I still can’t tell her I watch MLP. She only watched TOS, not TNG. She has no idea who Q is.
