This is a non-existant original character of the MLPFIM series. This guy dates back to 2010 December.  The reason he was never made was because his backstory was kind of “GRIMDERK DONUT STEAL” and I knew that people would hate me for it. But ever since then I’ve been thinking about this guy and always thinking “What if” this was in the show.

Here’s the gist of it. The characters “name” is Duke. It was a placeholder name since I usually name most of my MCs Duke.

His story starts 1000 years ago. Already off to a cliche. He was a teenage dragon who sought power. He looked to become stronger no matter how. Eventually an evil presence gives him the power he desires, but at the cost of betraying his entire dragon race. Because of this, the elder dragon cast a curse on Duke. The curse caused his wings to disappear and made it so Duke would never grow or truly be a dragon as long as he lived. Because he was only a young dragon in appearance he was deemed the name “Dragonheart.” as in: it is the only part of him that is dragon. Obviously he was exiled.

Duke became ashamed for what he did and extremely angry. At this point in time, Ponies and Dragons were at a kind of cold war with each other. Duke decided to use his power to end the tension and cast the ones that exiled him into war by assassinating the princesses. If he succeeded  he’d be a hero. If not, he could at least die fighting. He did however fail but the princesses imprisoned him and sent him to death in a month. Luna, still very young protested against Dukes execution but the royals would not hear it. Luna insisted that if he should die then she would leave Canterlot.

A month passes and Duke is about to be called to be executed. Luna decided to keep her word and retreated Canterlot before the execution could take place. But by a stroke of luck, the elder dragon decided to not let Duke die and blew open the prison where he was held so he could escape. Duke retreats still bound by chains and sheets of metal dragging from him. Before he can leave the town he notices the young princess Luna being kidnapped. He saves her and returns her to her sister instead of running away and for this Celestia is greatful and doesn’t execute him.

As the “series” would continue, Duke and the ponies’ would end up getting to enjoy each other’s company. However, Duke knows that the Elder dragon is dying. Like Celestia and Luna, the Elder dragon has a great amount of power and once dead would leave the dragons at a huge disadvantage and vulnerable to an equine assault. Luna, Duke and Celestia end up forging a royal sword which served as a peace treaty between the races. Ponies and Dragons still hated each other but would not go to war and shared the land (mostly.)

We’re not done yet. No. I’ve had 2 years to put a lot of autistic thought into this character’s story. 

The reason for the treaty was for both sides to destroy a greater evil, the same one that granted Duke his power. With the Royal sword and pair of tempered Chain blades, Duke and Celestia lead an attack against the evil and eventually come out victorious. However shortly after, this is when the Nightmare Moon incident happens. 

After Luna is banished, Duke feels extremely guilty for not being able to save her. He also realizes he has no more purpose to fight and falls asleep in despair in his original cell awaiting death. A lot of people thought he had left Canterlot and had never known that he slept in a dark crevice under the prison. By some strange miracle, Duke wakes up 1000 years later and hasn’t aged at all, much less died. 

He meets with Celestia and learns what he missed. The elements of harmony have new hosts and Duke offers to protect the 6 but Celestia deems it unnecessary.

Now this was around the time Season 2 started. Surely Duke would try to fight Discord if he had come back right? At this point Duke is already feeling useless, unable to fight or protect anything. Well what ends up happening Discord manages to use his despair and trick Duke into entering his own strange world in his head after promising him a great power.  Discord does keep his promise and Duke obtains two incredibally long and sharp (Yes..Sharp) Scarves that wrap around his arms and use magic to bend and slice at the wielders will. Duke escapes when Discord is defeated but Discord’s conscience stays with him.

Duke manages to trap Discord into a doll which Discord can manipulate but is unable to use his other powers. Grounded and Neutered, Discord becomes Duke’s little secret as Duke wants to know more about where Discord’s power originated.

Later down the line, Another evil threatens canterlot. With Discords instruction, Duke goes off to find 6 vessels to make something that will stop the evil. In the end the vessels needed were Trixie, Zecora, Gilda, Iron Will, Rover and Garble. All 6 corresponded to a body part Discord had. Problem was that there was actually one more piece to be found. Throughout the “season” Duke and Discord would team up with the “Elements of Disharmony” working out of Celestia’s security plotting to stop an evil that princesses do not even know about.

Discord eventually tricks Celestia and escapes but does not assault ponyville and instead focuses on the greater threat.

Remember this? 

Both Discord shots were actually from scenes in my head that would happen after Discord escaped.

So there is a bunch more to this story but most of it is all random in my head. 

Hell Duke’s actual appearance isn’t finalized since I’ve kept it in. After drawing him I don’t even actually know what I want him to look like, I just know that’s close.

So there is my story of autism. I have a fanfic writers mind but I could not be bothered to bother anyone else with my stupid ideas.
